About Cadence Choir
Cadence Choir is a mixed adult choir with approximately 20 members. We rehearse in St Agnes Anglican church in Black Rock every Thursday from 7:30 – 9:00, through the school terms. We also perform twice a year in this beautiful church and get involved in special choral projects from time to time.
Our members come from all over Melbourne, but many are from the Bayside area.
What do we sing?
Cadence singers enjoy learning a wide variety of repertoire from Gospel and swing to folk and World Music to classic pop and Musical Theatre.
Creating a great blend in whatever style is front and centre in our rehearsals. We love great arrangements – most of which are a cappella (unaccompanied) and in 4-part harmony. Most of the music is easy to learn but some is intended to challenge us and keep us on our toes.
You don’t have to read music to be in Cadence Choir but you do need to be able to sing in tune with reasonable tone. Singers are provided with sheet music and learning tracks to support the learning.
Our Musical Director
Cadence Choir is led by conductor Andrea French, who has had years of choral experience both in Australia and in the UK, and in a range of both educational and performance settings. Andy is also a professional pianist and arranger.
Sing with a fun group and develop your voice
Cadence choristers get the opportunity to explore and develop their voices while working together as part of a team.
A few minutes of vocal and movement warm-ups or perhaps a vocal sing-off half way through the night are some of the ways we bring a bit of laughter and holistic learning into our rehearsals.
